GEOZONe, ‘zining like its the late 1900s (and 2025)
Just as I have been contemplating and obtaining ‘zines again myself, I find that others have created Geo specific distribution outlets and have presentations at the 2025 AAG later this month.
“GEOZONe – Geography Zine Organizing Network – is a transnational collective archiving zines and print ephemera broadly concerned with geography. We aim to make these materials available for download, print, and distribution in academic and activist spaces across the globe.”
There will be a session at the AAG in Detroit on the use of ‘zines in the classroom Teaching with Zines (with GEOZONe), 3/27/2025 @ 10:10 AM in Room 142B, Level 1, Huntington Place and the schedule says it will be streamed if you are attending virtually.
As you can imagine, there are already a number of great contributions available on the site that are generally available as both a digital read and downloadable with assembly instructions. And with a tagline of “An archive of mischief-making zines and radical geographic print ephemera” many of these are the stories that we need to enhance right now to remind us that we should still be working together for a future of multiple perspectives.
They are also on Insta and talked about a lot on Bluesky w/ @e.kinkaid posting new drops.
