Mac Freebies for cultural geogs and programmers

In my quick trip through the tech blogs today I came across a couple of items that I thought were noteworthy. The first is the transcription software named Transcriptions. It is a free, lightweight Mac transcription app that combines audio playback and text editing into one interface, complete with speed control on your audio.

The other notable item is the Stanford U undergrad class on iPhone app dev that is being taught by Apple software engineers (you can do that when you are in Silicon Valley I guess). What is nice is that the class is being distributed on iTunes U. The first lecture video and slides pdf are up for download (iTunes link)
