Quantum GIS Applies to OSGeo

I am behind on most everything (haven’t read a blog in a week), but I was really interested to see the announcement on the QGIS Blog last Friday that the Quantum GIS project has applied for membership in the Open Source Geospatial Foundation. Currently, GRASS and OSSIM are the only desktop apps that are members, but it is logical for QGIS to move toward OSGeo with its increasing implementation of GRASS code. It is also logical that QGIS waited for the first full year to pass for OSGeo (Happy Anniversary to OSGeo BTW) to see how things would fall out. I will be keeping a curious eye on this to see how it goes.
