GeoWorld’s April 2006 issue features the first of 3 articles about 3D visualization and the geospatial industry. By Fred Limp, of the University of Arkansas’s Center for Advanced Spatial Technologies, “An Impending Massive 3-D Mashup” is a good overview of what 3D means in terms of geospatial technologies, why it is “cool” right now, and where the push will be in the near term (in the area of LiDAR for example).
