BBC NEWS | US shows signs of net addiction
1 out of 8 folks in the US apparently shows signs of net addiction. Only 1 of 8…I don’t know at least 3 of those people. I guess I am in a bad environment to see the full breadth as I am surrounded by undergrads who can’t be torn from FaceBook and YouTube. My favorite is the ringing endorsement that Frank and I ARE the stereotypical net addict while Sue is simply an outlier 😉
A typical addict is a single, white college-educated male in his 30s, who spends more than 30 hours a week on “non-essential” computer use, it found.
But what is considered ‘non-essential’.

Another couple of geo related BBC articles today (I think they’re on a role):

I am surprised by this study. The surprise is not that this condition exists, it’s that they came up with so few people actually being called addicts. I would have figure it would be somewhere more like 1 in 5 or so. Hopefully we can get to the root of this and get people back on track with their lives.
