UPS route software helps lower fuel consumption

You’ve probably never thought much about it, but left turns cost you more in fuel consumption as you idle waiting for a light to change or traffic to go by, whereas right turns usually only require waiting for a break in traffic to turn into the traffic lane. For those of you who drive on the left hand side of the road, the opposite would be true. Either way, UPS actually has its routing software map out delivery routes that minimize left turns to help lower fuel consumption. So see, in addition to its many other amazing functionality, GIS helps conserve fuel too!
