Traveling Exhibit of EarthWorks virtual reconstructions

Continuing my theme today of virtual reconstructions of cultural and archaeological resources, I just saw a press release on ScienceDaily that EarthWorks, a ten-year-old project to virtually reconstruct Native American mound and earthwork sites in the Ohio River Valley, has put together a traveling exhibit that will include some of its reconstructions, along with associated maps, timelines and other documents and photos related to prehistoric mounds in the Ohio Valley. Since we have also done some work with GIS related to the mounds in our region, I thought this would be another good example of how 3D reconstructions are being used for educational and even research purposes. The exhibit will kick off JUne 20, 2006 at the Cincinnati Museum Center, and will move to Columbus, Ohio at the end of September 2006.
