Microsoft awards academic grants for Virtual Earth research projects

On Feb 16th, Microsoft announced the winners of its Trustworthy Computing and Virtual Earth academic grants competition. 23 grants were awarded, totaling $1 million. Geography professor elected speaker of Palestinian parliament

Abdel Aziz Duaik, a geography professor from the West Bank, was elected speaker of the new Palestinian parliament yesterday. Duaik earned his doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania and is a professor at An Najah University in Nablus. Via NorthJersey.com
