BBC has an interesting article on the use of sedimentology to study ancient ocean currents by the Woods Hope Oceanographic Institute. It is amazing how many articles are coming out of the American Geophysical Union meetings from this fall.

    What was the direction of atlantic currents 50,000bp to 5ooobp. Was there an east to west current from africa to the north of south america.If so it would be possible that people could have migrated from africa before the ice blocking the bering landbridge opened up.
